Santa Fe Weekend – the Ultimate Food and Drink Tour

Bunny Terry June 22, 2021

Friday

Start out your weekend with a trip to the Santa Fe Brewery Beer Hall HQ

From the HQ Website:

The New Beer Hall at HQ. Mountain view with 27 taps of beer, cider, wine, and other fun stuff. Beer to go. It’s like drinking in a Santa Fe postcard.

Here you’ll also find one of the greenest places in all of Santa Fe. Literally. In an area where brown is always the color du jour, our beer garden is a lush, grassy, tree-filled oasis made green by irrigation from our state-of-the-art water reclamation system.

Santa Fe Brewery is a must-visit for locals and visitors. The beer is great, the atmosphere is relaxing and the food truck is always delicious!

Located at: 35 Fire Place Santa Fe, NM 87508; (505) 424-3333

Friday Dinner

Head over to Tomasita’s after a walk around the Railyard District

Get your green chile fix and a few homemade sopaipillas! The menu at Tomasita’s is varied enough to satisfy any taste.

From the Tomas ita's Website:

Tomasita’s is distinctly Northern New Mexican. Our recipes have been handed down for generations, and still stand as witness to the melding of cultures that together once depended on the corn, chile, beans, and fruit of the area. Since 1974 the Maryol/Gundry family has maintained a commitment to the recipes and ingredients of New Mexico, making Tomasita’s the local’s favorite for almost 40 years.

Location: 500 S Guadalupe St Santa Fe, NM 87501 US; (505) 983-5721

Saturday Morning

I have to recommend The Pantry as my personal favorite breakfast spot in Santa Fe, and I know I’m not alone! The Panty now has two new locations so you can grab a bite from the best no matter what area of town you’re staying in. Be ready for a bit of a wait, but it’s definitely worth it!

Location: 1820 Cerrillos Road Santa Fe, NM 87505

Saturday Afternoon

After breakfast take a stroll around the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Then stop in at the Draft station for a lunch of pizza from Rooftop Pizzeria. The views are perfect from the patio!

*Sight-seeing Bonus: After lunch, I recommend stopping into some local shops and then popping into one or two of Santa Fe’s best museums, here are the ones I recommend:

Georgia O’Keefe Museum: 217 Johnson Street Santa Fe, NM 87501 (505) 946.1000

New Mexico History Museum: 113 Lincoln Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87501

Both of these museums are right off the plaza and within walking distance.

Another great Santa Fe must-see is the Museum of International Folk Art: On Museum Hill, 706 Camino Lejo, Santa Fe, NM 87505

Saturday Evening

Are you ready for a delicious and decadent dinner?

Head over to Market Steer for a perfectly prepared steak. I’ve had some of the best dinners of my life here and I always recommend it! Located in the St. Francis Hotel, offering indoor or outdoor seating.

Location: 210 Don Gaspar Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87501

A little bit about Chef Crook at Market Steer:

“Chef Crook has always found joy in food and felt a deep respect for where it comes from. In her hometown of Artesia, NM, nightly supper is akin to worship, with folks in the small-town community eating only what comes from the land. Growing up in Artesia, farm-to-table was more than a fancy marketing term, it was a way of life. When she wasn’t in school, she was working her Daddy’s farm and her Mama’s steers, or working alongside her Granny Jackie, who ran a local catering business known every bit as much for fun as food.”

After dinner head across the street for some 20’s-inspired cocktails at Tonic. The specialty cocktails there are delicious and even their non-alcoholic options are superb!

Location: 103 E Water St, Santa Fe, NM 87501

Sunday

Round off a great weekend with breakfast at Tia Sophia’s a family-owned local eatery that never disappoints. You might want to order everything one the menu, I know I always do!

About Tia Sophia’s:

Tia Sophia’s was started on May 5th, 1975 by my parents Ann and Jim.  A simple diner, Tia Sophia’s became a spot for both locals and tourists alike, featuring good-old-fashion northern New Mexico dishes at reasonable prices. Over the years much changed downtown but we stayed the same. Our goal is to serve the mouth-watering chile, the flakey sopapillas, and the breakfast burritos that we served back then to you now.

Location: 210 W San Francisco St, Santa Fe, NM 87501
